Vertigo is a type of inner ear dysfunction of the vestibular system that causes a person to feel dizzy and off balance. The vestibular system is responsible for detecting changes in body position that allows a person to rapidly adjust their body to remain stable. A person experiencing vertigo will typically report feelings of, “room spinning”, “dizziness”, or “off balance” with quick changes in body or head position that can sometimes be associated with nausea and vomiting.
People suffering with vertigo experience a drastic change in their ability to complete daily activities, work, exercise or drive but physical therapy can help! The physical therapist's role is to determine the source of a person's vertigo and provide the appropriate treatment thereafter.
If you are experiencing symptoms of vertigo please speak with your medical doctor and contact us for an appointment!
